Welcome to the website of a
writer, teacher, speaker and thinker. I teach because I can't help it, write
because I can't avoid it, and think because that's what people do--or should.
Here you'll find links and study guides for my books, writing tips and book
reviews for kids and teachers, fun stuff for Shakespeare fans, and Schoolapalooza!--a guide for
those who ever wondered how to schedule a school
visit. Come in and look
around!
NEWS!
The
Children's Literature Festival of the Ozarks, a venerable organization
at twenty-plus, is on my calendar for October 19. It will be a
star-studded lineup with authors like Obert Skye, Shane Evans, Roland
Smith, and Cheryl Harness. And me. If you're going to be
within a few hundred miles of Springfield at that time, stop by. Details here.
The
book blog I co-write with Emily Whitten almost two years old! That's
keeping me as busy as anything right now--reading books and writing
about books. Not a bad way to spend my time, and we're growing in
visitors and subscribers. This month we're talking about home
libraries: how do you choose the books you really want to keep?
And how do you stretch a budet to include those books? Emily
begins the discussion here, and here's an idea for using your resources to benefit an entire community. Highlights from last month: Flannery O'Connor week and 7 Myths about Fifty Shades.
I'm also now
blogging for the WORLD magazine
website. I just didn't have enough to do . . .
